About the event
This advanced ethics training moves beyond a surface-level review of the social work code of ethics to explore the nuanced, often uncomfortable realities clinicians face in practice. Emphasizing the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers and also drawing from NBCC (counseling), AAMFT (LMFT), and APA (psychology) ethical frameworks, this session emphasizes interdisciplinary alignment while critically examining where codes meet challenges in complex systems. Through provocative case studies, participants will grapple with ethically ambiguous scenarios—such as when appropriate referrals are unavailable, systems fail clients, or competing obligations create tension. This training challenges clinicians to think beyond rigid rule application and toward ethically sound, context-responsive decision-making grounded in professional integrity and real-world constraints.
