About the event

This CE meets the 3-hour Clinical (non-DSM 5 TR) requirement for AL licensure. For the DSM 5 TR clinical CE, please stay posted for those offerings.

Designed for non-prescribing clinicians, this course delivers a clear, practical, and neuroscience-informed foundation in psychopharmacology. Learn how major medication classes—antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anxiolytics—work within real brain systems, not outdated “chemical imbalance” models. Time permitting, we will examine medications for Neurocognitive Disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's) and Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder as well.

Grounded in current research, the course highlights how medications affect key neurochemical pathways (serotonin, dopamine, glutamate, and GABA), neural circuits, and processes like neuroplasticity. You’ll also get a concise look at emerging developments, including rapid-acting treatments and the shift toward more personalized, precision-based care.

Walk away able to confidently:

·       Explain medications to clients in clear, accurate terms

·       Recognize and contextualize common side effects
